So incredibly proud of our ERHS singers! I had the privilege of working with these wonderful students during my two semesters of student teaching. Thank you for being such a receptive and kind group of singers. I will miss you all dearly. And a special thank you to my co-op @mindfulsoprano for teaching me so much during my time there! Best of luck to the seniors as they venture onto their next journey!

On Thursday, I sang at my 39th and final graduation ceremony, surrounded by some of the finest musicians and most inspiring people I’ve had the privilege to know at Wilson. We braved the elements and witnessed a crowd of joyful, hopeful faces. The audience’s appreciation was overwhelming. We received flowers from the graduation team, a gesture that meant more than I can say.

Throughout the week, I had the honor of watching so many of my friends walk across the stage at their respective ceremonies. I listened with pride as my incredible friend Grace McGory delivered a powerful speech about the importance telling our stories to a broken world, and learning to see the way it could be, in spite of the way that it is.

Reflecting on these past eight semesters at Rowan, I feel nothing but gratitude. I’ve had the opportunity to study with some of the most thoughtful, dedicated professors and to collaborate with classmates whose talent and passion have pushed me to grow every day. I’m already mourning the loss of the musical experiences and community I’ve found here, and I can only hope that our paths will cross again—onstage or off.

Thank you to my family, friends, mentors, and everyone who’s supported me along the way. Your encouragement has helped me chase my dreams and become not only a better musician, but a better person.

My time at Rowan has changed my life. I found people who truly understand me. I embraced my queerness. I began therapy to address my anxiety and depression, and I finally received a diagnosis of ADHD and Autism. Understanding myself more deeply has helped me make sense of past struggles, and it’s transformed how I approach music. Music carried me through my darkest moments, and now, I want to be that source of light for others. I want to show my future students the same love and compassion that I’ve been so fortunate to receive—the kind all people deserve.

“To the world we dream about, and the one we live in now.”
